I have been wanting to play with these weld bends and bending my handwriting. There is an old neon tradition of "block out tubing" that was actually spliced in so that there would be no paint to chip.

I like the idea of using darker colors as the "block out" glass for all the connections. Its certainly an extra challenge, but I am liking the look.

I am gonna be bending neon at Brooklyn Glass's Hot Glass Cold Beer on Saturday. I get most of my neon tubing from there (they import from Italy) and I think this would be nice in a nice warm white and non coated cobalt blue. It took me 1, 3/4 hours to make "CHOOSE" out of scraps I had (whoops, got the whites mixed up :) )

My mom used to preach this to me when I was in high school. It changed my life... but I still sometimes feel like I can delude myself into feeling happy about a crappy situation.

I rebent the "CHOOSE" at Brooklyn Glass's hot glass cold beer event. This time I was able to use the Italian cobalt blue uncoated glass as the "blockout" glass and one of my favorite bright white colors- "Sunrise".

It was fun making this in the party like environment. A little distracting, but ironic that I wanted to listen to party jams and focus on bending, but kept pausing my party song jams to talk and actually party and chat with people.

I suppose that I need to buy some more cobalt uncoated glass. Now I am busy again with some neon production stuff, but in a few weeks I will have time to play more. In the mean time, I can collect more phrases to make.

I felt tickled when the equivalent of the neon tube Willy Wonka complemented the bending and side tubulation I made on the end of the "E" and cursed my choice of terrible electrodes -For some reason I find free, cheap-O electrodes amusing.

@JamesAkers the squiggle looks like some kind of weird gemstone!

@ranjit it really does! The colored glasses do have gem like qualities. The white and colored glass is an interesting combination for sure.

My first glass teacher was into geology before he shifted his focus to glass. He found that with glass he could "make his own rocks". Neon rocks!
