Gripen, 95 seconds.
F-35, 14 minutes.

Canada’s choice of aircraft should be clear.

12 and a half minutes is forever in modern warfare. IRBM’s from USA could wipe out bases, without time for F-35’s to even start!

But Gripens? They would still have a chance of escape, after launches would be detected.

Unfortunately, the RCAF brass is hell-bent on buying the F-35s. Plus, the needs of the army and the navy are far more urgent.
