Fascists always frame their politics as "the true volk" versus "elites," where the "elites" are largely powerless but morally sympathetic groups, deliberately subverting populist politics in their favor.
It's misogynists claiming to be under attack by women. It's white supremacists claiming to be "besieged" by non-white people. It's the rich claiming to be taken advantage of by the poor. It's bullshit.
@gwynnion I mean, yeah, how dare they. Oh to go back to the golden days when the rabble still knew its place: Either keeping the status quo and keeping their trap shut or praising and adoring their fair nobility, just as god intended.
The french had the right idea, too bad they were to inept to see it through properly.
@dawgeth Not at all.
There's a reason fascists love it when people agree that taxing billionaires is an outrageous form of oppression.
@dawgeth @gwynnion just remember, if you grew up in the 1980s, the capitalism you grew up with is nothing like the capitalism of the 40s through the 60s. They have killed the Square Deal and New Deal, and returned us to the horrible 1880s horse and sparrow economics.
Capitalism didn't have to be this way, but unrestrained greed won.
