I seriously doubt that the early zoning proponents in North America were studying native examples but it may be helpful for current practitioners to understand something about the land and history here.

@Lyle I hope you have read Cahokia Jazz, by Frances Spufford. It doesn't address your need, but it is a Very Good Read. Helps to have a bit of Wengrow and Graeber, but not at all essential.
