Google announced that as of September 2026, it will no longer be possible to develop apps for the Android platform without first registering centrally with Google. This registration will involve:

- Paying a fee to Google
- Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
- Providing government identification
- Uploading evidence of the developer’s private signing key
- Listing all current and future application identifiers

@thehiddenlayer @jbz How so that GOS isn't mature enough? I personally think Sailfish is mature enough for wide masses, but didn't expect to hear that GOS wouldn't be
@Antti98 @jbz I mean, banking apps and several other gov things are not that functional and it kind of stops being the point of being able to use it properly.
I know its not GOS problem; but it adds to its complexity of the usability
