Working my way through @[email protected]'s article; I can't believe: 1) The EU hasn't realised which party is in office impacts the quality of US information. 2) Not just DE's FDP, but US & UK didn't get what I got from 3 hours of opensource laptop research re: Ukraine's 2014-2022 war prep.
So in the end, Ukraine WAS like Iraq. The US has great access to people next to leaders, but those leaders are deluded about their own capacities (IIRC, the FT wrote once that Hussein thought he'd restarted his nuke programme, but the UN inspectors were right because his physicists lied to him.)
