@film_girl @zedtech There’s a dedicated group of people on the Fedi doing their best to make it unusable
@wonkothesane @film_girl @zedtech On the flip side, there is a dedicated group of Americans (the Government) doing their best to make Canada a part of their unusable country. Don’t be surprised that in moments of political turmoil and international tensions, not very well thought-out comments like this won’t be taken lightly. Me? I rolled my eyes, but I’m not Canadian.
@tad @film_girl @zedtech It actually made the comment a little more odd to me. “That’s not how you talk about friends”. Is America anyone’s friend right now other than Israel and maybe Russia

@wonkothesane @tad @film_girl Canadians are still friendly with Americans in general, just not the administration.

Like many Canadians however, I'm just so very tired of the insults being thrown our way. Americans generally don't understand because you aren't all up to date with all the crap your country has been doing to mine - but to be fair, you've got an awful lot going on down there to keep track of on your own.

@zedtech @wonkothesane @tad and I’ll admit I’ve been recovering from major surgery so I won’t apologize that my focus has been elsewhere. But I do apologize for my response to your response being out of pocket.

I do wish people could assume good faith and just see being excited about a hockey outcome using completely normal language not being some sort of statement about being a supporter of fascism. Because come on.

@film_girl @wonkothesane @tad agreed. And to be clear I wasn't trying to imply that you personally supported fascism.

That 2nd part of my post didn't come across properly - it was intended as more of a sarcastic complaint about focusing on the Olympics and name-calling Canada when there's so much else going on down there.

I forgot the first rule of social media: sarcasm doesn't travel well. And I was too pissed to phrase it properly.
