This looked very familiar. I must have watched part of it at some point. The movie might as well have been silent — the story is such that you need not pay attention to it after the initial exposition dump. Bad guys want Santo’s body for its immortality chemicals. They try, he resists. Friends are protected, enemies — with one exception — dispatched.

Otherwise, we have the familiar sets, a monster who looks like the one from Night of the Bloody Apes, and the excellent fashion we’ve come to expect from a Santo movie.

The music is also quite good. It’s the usual mix of gothic organ, groovy jazz, suspenseful vibraphone and timpani, and laboratory electro-acoustic, but I like all of those styles, especially in tight rotation.

Extra marks for actual night shooting and the unsparing use of smoke.
