It's nice that music player software has "play next", i.e. "insert into the play queue after the currently playing track".

Now, can we please also get an extension to the pause button that does "pause after the current track"?

I don't know about you, but I'm fairly often like "I want the music to end, but at a natural moment, not now in the middle of the track", but I also don't want to camp in front of the player to push pause at the correct moment.

@scy podcast players often have that, so why not music players.
@scy I also really need this feature! Alternatively I select the sleep timer and end of the current track on Spotify, but that's like 4 extra buttons.
@scy quodlibet has that button since about 20 year
@scy Sounds exactly like something I never knew I needed. And now that I know I want it badly 😬
@scy
Sleep timer? often you can set the time to "remainder of current track"

@scy mpd has single mode where it stops after playing the current song. And on the mpd client cantata you can select any track in the playlist and click „Stop after this track“.

But I do understand why mpd is not the player of choice for most people.

(And wow, did mpd get many interesting new features in the last decade… One would expect the development of such a niece software to be finished a long time ago… But no, they still find new interesting ideas for new features)

@scy Strawberry has this functionality.
@scy MusicBee (on Windows) has a "stop after current" option, but it doesn't have an assigned hotkey by default (I've set it to Ctrl Alt S) or a button on the player UI (so far as I know). I use this option almost daily.
