The Birdbassadorcertain iconography seems sticky even after the referent all but disappears. famously floppy disks for save icons, but also hourglasses for time/waiting, phone handsets/mics for audio calls, etc. i wonder what the next obsolete bit of tech iconography will be. hopefully flags for language localizations after the concept of the nation-state has been eliminated by mother anarchy, but i suspect it will be 👤 for agent/persona
another 👤 thought is that "👤" reads as solidly male gendered to me. i think the real gender neutral/gender ambiguous/agender default avatar should be a random screenshot of an anime character. in my experience, the anime character avatar seems to cross all gender and political lines. there are specific anime character for which this is not true, however; the randomness is key.

@shared i do hazily remember a debate about whether to use a magnifying glass or a lightbulb for a feature that was meant to provide potential explanations of data patterns. i think "insights = lightbulb" won out over "i want to know more = magnifying glass"
