@memes I prefer tetration (big numbers 🔥🔥)
@memes matrix gives FOSS a bad name by not fucking working.
me and a friend were trying to verify devices and it took 6 TRIES to finish. only 2 of them failed by accident, the rest was matrix.

@Jes @memes You say that, but recently I convinced my friends to switch to Matrix and it’s working pretty well so far. Missing some QoL stuff from Discord (voice chat mainly), but yeah we seem to be pretty fortunate in regard of adding devices. 😅

…Strange how this isn’t a universal experience.

@MMusselwhite @memes It's not all bad but some parts of the platform don't scale well
@memes @Jes hopefully in time they’ll figure it out. Relatively speaking Matrix is still a new thing, so I SUPPOSE in a very abstract way this is just early adopter pains…
@MMusselwhite @memes Oh they did figure it out in the end but it was still a doozy
@MMusselwhite @memes @[email protected] new? According to Wikipedia, Element (originally Riot) was launched in 2016 as an implementation of Matrix, whereas Discord was launched in 2015.
@kdj8 @memes @Jes I did put "relatively" for a reason. Compared to some other IMs, especially FOSS alternatives, Matrix is pretty new. In the grand scheme of things Matrix is OLD (not in a bad way to be clear). 😅
@MMusselwhite @kdj8 @memes yeah compared to things like xmpp or irc or mumble, etc, it is fairly new
@Jes @MMusselwhite @memes Some of the protocol design, really.

No matter how good implementations get, without fixing that it reaches a hard limit.
@memes
I mean, literally me but i'm not a trans girl.... or...
@memes I don't like being called out
