Pippin passed away January 30. I thought I might share some of her stories. She is very missed.

Age 5

We used to bring her on vacations to Vermont. In 2012 there was a ferocious windstorm and a small chickadee kept getting blown back into the cabin window. Every time it attempted to fly, the storm would throw it back.

Pippin watched with great interest. Night fell and the chickadee stayed put. So the 4 of us just watched each other, waiting out the storm.

@danmccullough watching birds with your cat rarely has such gravitas
@alexhaist I think the chickadee was contemplating which would be better, outside in the storm or inside with Pippin. 😂 I went outside in the teeth of the storm, plucked the bird off the sill and tried to find a safe haven to set it down… but within 5 minutes it had returned.
@danmccullough well, perhaps the frantic beating of its heart as it gazed into Pippin's eyes kept it going through the storm.
