This is my son, Qusai…
He’s making a Ramadan lantern with his little hands
a simple decoration that brings joy to children’s hearts,
despite the hardship of fasting.
They still love Ramadan.
They love its light, its spirit, its warmth —
even if this year it finds us in a tent.
It may be exhausting, heavy, and different from every year before.
But their small hearts still hold onto the lantern
still believe there is light — even in the middle of hardship

"Seela crawls on the sand around our tent, touching it with her tiny hands, even trying to taste it, and I keep running after her, afraid for her safety This is not where I dreamed she would grow up. Our home was destroyed, and now we live in a tent that protects us from neither heat nor cold" 1/2 https://chuffed.org/project/131514-help-asar-and-her-family-survive-the-genocide
