hi, for english class we have to do a survey regarding social media, fame and privacy. it's not really important, but it'd be rly funny to have an outrageously high number of participants for shit and giggles, so here's the link : https://framaforms.org/english-class-survey-social-media-and-privacy-1771577832

edit: for info, no field is mandatory

English class survey - Social media and privacy | Framaforms.org

@elsactivitypub I just wanna say, thank you for not using google forms!! It feels like _everyone_ does and I don't feel comfortable using google forms (I'm sure they vacuum up info on everyone using it) and yeah. This is something I can actually participate in.

@elsactivitypub I'm goin' through the thing and... what does a "private social media account" even mean? Is that a Weird Twitter Thing where you can only lock your whole account and not per-post?

Here of course it's per-post and I post both public and private stuff here with wild abandon. Some stuff is public and some stuff is followersonly, and I don't have open follows turned on. But since not everything is followersonly I don't know whether this counts as a "public account" or a "private account".

@elsactivitypub

Is your online self different than your real self ?

That's... a really fucking bad way to phrase that. (Holy assumptions batman.) My online self IS my real self, personally. This is where I can be open about who I am. It's in dirtspace that you'd get the fakery. Pretending to be [legal name]. Pretending to be human. Pretending that we're all the same person just because we share a body and the minute you try to explain plurality to a "normal" person they get weird about it.

I guess that's why you're running a survey though, to find this stuff out! :3

I might just say "I don't know" even though I absolutely do know. There's no good answer here.

@elsactivitypub turns out I could just leave the unanswerable stuff blank! Awesome. Really glad for that (</genuine>).

@elsactivitypub (...oh, uh. since I completely forgot you're not a native english speaker, I should probably explain some stuff... 'dirtspace' is slang for offline, some people use 'meatspace' but I personally find that term kinda gross and then I saw people using 'dirtspace' and decided that was the one for me. It avoids the "but online's not REEEALL!!" connotations of "IRL".)

(and "holy X batman" is a meme of some sort that's like "wow, okay, that's quite the X there".)

(the </genuine> was like, I'm being serious here and actually grateful, that isn't sarcasm. Basically the opposite of a Sarcasm Sign (the more common </s> tag).)
