Okay, about to reboot into a new kernel and I've already removed the old kernel, and I switched grub versions, but I still have a my old (BIOS) boot, because I couldn't set up my new EFI ESP, because mount couldn't load the new vfat module on the old kernel.

(My current /boot doesn't fit two initramfs images right now.)

Wish me luck. You'll understand if all my posts come from Tusky for a few days. ;)

I'm back, on the new kernel, but still did a Legacy BIOS boot off the old, too small, boot partition.

I also had to interact with the initramfs to have it bring up the LVM VG in partial mode because it was still working from an old crypttab and didn't bring up the new LUKS device that is a PV (it did successfully skip the old, no-longer-existing old LUKS device.)

I did a grub-install that seemed to lay out a good /boot and /boot/EFI so next time I reboot, I'll go into the "Boot Settings" to see if I can switch, but I'll probably put that off for several days, at least.

Finally had to reboot to move the laptop about an hours drive away.

Despite having some similar EFI support -- the "F2 Setup" has an option to "Boot EFI Sheel from filesystem device", it failed to boot off the EFI grub.

I had to fiddle in the initramfs because it had the wrong crypttab and couldn't find all my LVM PVs.

Anyway, I legacy booted, and I need to go back to legacy grub, but... maybe I can at least use my EFI partition to store multiple kernels.
