@msdropbear They are there to perpetuate the myth that most people are fascinated by royalty. In reality, Liz was probably it, for most Royal watchers...and she continued well past her best-before date.
The Netherlands has a Royal family. Spain has a Royal family. Denmark has a Royal family (our Mary🙄). None of them are as obscenely wealthy as the Brit Royals. None of them seem to attract the slavish fawning - or vitriolic hatred directed against anyone perceived to be besmirching the sacred Crown - as do the Windsors. It's quite revolting.
