@alissaazar can we recall city councilors because what the fuck

@alissaazar I don't want to play that bingo game of "which Constitutional Right have you lost today"

"I'll take Right To Petition for $600, Alex"

@alissaazar Guess we can't even trust our local governments. :/
Oh no, is she OK? It says she was charged with trespassing!
@cy she’s in good spirits but the charge stuck. Went to the arraignment today, the three others had their charges no complaint-ed but she still has the trespassing charge
Hopefully it'll get thrown out in court I mean, it's submitting a petition at the city council meeting. The good spirits is the important thing though! Who cares what phony accusations they make?

Their voters, I hope, in that they don't vote for them again!

@cy @alissaazar

If that made a difference, we wouldn't be getting arrested trying to submit a petition!

But yeah, hopefully.

@alissaazar I noticed the piece doesn't mention whether the officials in question were Republicans or Democrats. Given that it's Portland, I'll bet that it's Democrats.

They are just as much fascists as the Republicans are. Don't forget that.

@Quasit @alissaazar that is likely because Portland city council elections are officially non-partisan, and therefore councilors' party memberships are not technically relevant to their jobs. but also yes, most likely all mentioned are Dems (I only really looked into my own district in the last election because there were way too many candidates to check the rest, and the few openly GOP/conservative candidates were practically a joke)
@Quasit yeah democrats. I believe Angelita Morillo and Mitch Green are members of DSA. Maybe more. Them and Tiffany Koyama Lane were all endorsed by portland DSA
@alissaazar I do wish people would differentiate between Portland, Oregon and Portland, Maine in article headings.
@CatDragon mentions it in the beginning of the article but I did just update the headline too. Have been trying to get better at doing this both on social media posts and in the articles.

@alissaazar
"Councilor Loretta Smith later described the protest on social media as a “mini insurrection,”"

maybe they want the maxi version
