TomI have a dilemma. I have been given the availability sheet for the first part of the running on the #SteamRailway, but after the awful experience before Christmas, I'm kind of reluctant to volunteer.
Well, I just sent an email back to the railway saying I'm not available for these dates. It might look a bit odd given the timeframe is March until the start of May but oh well. #SteamRailway
I have though, also taken the opportunity to email the railway centre I went to in October to introduce myself, and ask about what the pathway is for getting on the footplate of their engines. They seem like a nice bunch and their little industrial steam locos seem much more my style than this big stupid American thing. #SteamRailway

This is similar to how I got with the canal volunteering.
I had a combination of difficult encounters on the towpath alongside a change of manager who was making volunteering more difficult than it had been.
I kept going back saying 'it will get better'. It didn't. I stopped.
