The current furore over how AI is going to utterly change the modern workforce reminds me of the post-Y2K push to offshore / outsource IT at so many companies, with similar promises ("Now we can build code 3X cheaper, while our business analysts sleep!").

All that was a race to "transfer knowledge" from the experienced people's brains to cheaper resources. As if the real business intelligence of an IT organization resides in run books 😎
