Elon Musk and Melania Trump committed very similar offenses in order to gain US citizenship:

Ex-Minnesota corrections officer accused of falsely claiming to be U.S. citizen

A former Minnesota corrections officer is facing deportation and criminal charges that accuse him of more than a decade of citizenship deception.

@jonesmurphy this smells like bullshit to me. They are claiming this guy fooled his way through multiple rigerous screening points to get access to positions not generally available to the public. If they actually believed he accomplished this all as a non US citizen they would be investigating him for espionage, not trying to have him deported.

@drchellem then there's the vast number of white illegal immigrants they're NOT pursuing despite it being public knowledge:

Steve Bannon Says He Told Trump to Investigate Elon Musk’s Immigration Status

In an interview, the former top aide to the president said that Mr. Trump should cancel Elon Musk’s federal contracts.

@jonesmurphy of course. One of the first things Trump did was let in more white immigrants and create a pay to enter system for high power criminals.
@drchellem this is coming from GOP voters. They are white supremacists. That very much includes the 25% of GOP voters who are not white. Nonwhite GOP voters still overwhelmingly continue to support Trump and Republicans despite enduring tremendous racist xenophobia, racial profiling and other abuses.
@jonesmurphy a desire to be personally persecuted and subject your family members to the same without any apparent gain should be studied. Definitely not a healthy trait.
