My Google Pixel 6 is showing it's age. What's the state of the art with #Linux #phones? Usable yet?
[edit: I'm asking about a new phone, not about running Linux on the Pixel]

@Cenbe Security support ends in 2026. All Linux phones except for PostmarketOS, which doesn't have full support for the Pixel 6, rely on libhybris, which is effectively a shim library.

This means it allows you to install base Linux on Android drivers. Since they will no longer get updates, in October, you will be running an updated userspace and potentially vulnerable kernel space. If you're okay with that, Ubuntu Touch is still the furthest ahead of the pack but doesn't fully support the Pixel 6.

@kstrlworks Not asking about the Pixel actually, but a new phone that runs Linux well.

@Cenbe Oh, apologies. The PinePhone Pro, I know, has native Linux support, but I'll let someone who actually daily drives it speak about it. It was lacking too much for my use case, so I haven't used it as a main phone enough to comment.
