Glider pilot makes aviation history in Central Australia with 10-hour marathon

A Queensland pilot has made aviation history in Central Australia, flying more than 1,200 kilometres without an engine in a record-breaking glider flight launched from Alice Springs.

@VWDasher
That is an amazing distance to travel without an engine.
@SnowyCA It's incredible!
@VWDasher yup. I am sure, after landing, they must have been exhausted. It's not like they can put the glider on auto-pilot, and rest, one would have to constantly alert.
@SnowyCA yeah I was thinking they'd be barely able to eat up there, always atuned to the weather and catching thermals. What a ride though.
@VWDasher
"Eating"
I hadn't thought of that.
@SnowyCA ten hours! Peeing in a bottle, I imagine!

@VWDasher

That's what I was thinking, or,
I had a relative who was a pilot in WWII, and he said they had a funnel and hose that diverted urine outside the plane. 🫣
I suppose "don't look up" takes on a entirely different meaning.😬
