My 13 year-old has developed an interest in gaming PCs and would like to build his own.

Since he's shown little interest in computers in the past, it's been a great opportunity for us to talk about them and for me to show him how they work (having a bunch of old computers is great for that because they're much easier to grasp).

But his disappointed face when looking at the mad price of components these days is making me deeply angry at the AI speculation jerks.
Way to kill the joy, asshats. 😡

@onegeekarmy Grrr! And let me guess: Lemmings, SimCity and Oregon Trail just won't do the trick? ;)
@billgoats When I show him those, he just nods kindly with a look that says "Yes father, these are very nice, let's get you back to the hospice now." And I'm not sure I like it.
@billgoats @onegeekarmy Try Chuckie Egg! 👴
@arroz @onegeekarmy Mary-Kate and Ashley's Magical Mystery Mall had the godkids absolutely entranced by how a game could be so terrible, so difficult, yet so weirdly engaging.
@onegeekarmy
Full ack. I just got a steamdeck before it sold out lately for a 13 years old youngster... i hope he also likes the Pico-8 setup i'm going to put on it for developing first little games :)
@onegeekarmy my 11 year old would've had enough money for his 12th birthday to get the parts he keeps on his list for more than a year... he's totally shattered 😫
@chbeer That's just heartbreaking 💔
@onegeekarmy update: We have decided to help him and take over the difference
@chbeer Oh that's awesome ❤️
