Meta patented an AI that lets you keep posting after you die

Meta was recently granted a patent for tech to keep your social media accounts running using AI if you take a break or die.

If it wasn't clear yet..

DELETE YOUR #META ACCOUNTS

@stux I don't think deleting the accounts does anything except set "deleted" to "true".

I had a Facebook account in 2005 - for a week. I deleted it.

Ten years later I had to create another to test a Facebook extension. FB resurrected my original account. All my posts were still there.

Yeah, that's pretty typical. We usually call it a soft-delete. We don't always reveal to the user it's just a flag on an account.

It's pretty lousy.

This is why I prefer to misdirect the algorithm by following and liking things I'm not actually interested in.

Once upon a happier time it was (theoretically) possible to delete tweets off Twatter. Odd (not) how this is nigh on impossible now.
