Amidst everything, I'm going to be participating in ROMChip's fundraiser stream on Saturday (full schedule: https://donate.romchip.org/2026-schedule.html ) and man, do @LaineNooney and I have a treat for you!

ROMCHIP FUNDRAISER

Laine asks guests to play a game that means something to them historically, and so I had to pick my ride-or-die favorite, Hinterland's The Long Dark. Canadian wilderness survival! Wolves! Blizzards! Permadeath!

But we're making things a bit spicy.

Because The Long Dark allows players to play older versions of the game through their Time Capsule program, I made a deal: how much money ROMChip raises before my timeslot determines how far back in the game's history the version I play will be.

If Romchip raises more than $8500, I'll get chased by wolves, probably while answering questions about copyright law, in a version of the game I've never played before. If we raise more than $9500 before my stream, I'll play the early access launch version. (God help me.)

In short, donate before my block at 9 PM ET on Saturday to maximize my confusion and witness the hilarity of me failing on stream to play a game that I've put a couple hundred hours into. (I'll commit to at least Stalker difficulty, maybe Misery or Interloper depending.)

@kendraserra Chased by wolves while answering questions about copyright law is pretty much how I imagine your average day.
