I actually got to watch this with magpies, and it might even have been a funeral! It was along an alley and a fairly large group congregated around the body. I thought it was happenstance, but then a subgroup of about four cycled through, protecting the body and intermittently nudging it to see if it was okay. Passing cars barely shifted the entire group, cars had to slow for them. Took about 45 minutes, and they were quite loud!

The next morning, another group of four spent much of the morning doing something similar. I’m inclined to think it was the same four. It was a beautiful experience, and kind of sad
