Vibe Coding Is Killing Open Source Software, Researchers Argue

‘If the maintainers of small projects give up, who will produce the next Linux?’

404 Media

@404mediaco Who develops a new kernel mostly depends on how much they want to pay for a new kernel.

LLMs will transform the economy and human perception of the work a lot. Ultimately it’s up to people in the industry if things change for good or bad. LLM is a catalyst of the events.

@404mediaco I try to look at it from optimistic perspective. People do have a chance now to build something that will dismantle the capitalist value-extraction economy and build sustainable economic model where people have to work “smarter, not harder”.

This would require a major mindset shift. Luddites, although being vocal, are currently focused on fighting the genie that is out of the bottle. (1/2)

Instead i ask you to think how genie to make harnessed, local, private, available to anyone who needs it.

LLM is a crime of the century. Nobody will pay for theft of knowledge that made LLMs happen because our judicial system cannot solve this case.

The only option we have is to forge good from evil, because there’s no other material. (2/2)
