Many years ago I was reading Iain M. Banks Use Of Weapons, and finished it on the London Underground on the way to work. I got off, turned back around and went home because I couldn't weigh up doing a day's work with the emotions of the ending.

I was contracting at the time, so that was the most expensive book I own.

@sashabilton is that the one with the chair?
@sashabilton that book is on a par with The Road by Cormac McCarthy for me (partly as I read The Road about 6 months after our eldest was born, and I was looking at it with the eyes of a parent)
@Stuart_SMFX I've not read it, and I've heard good things about it that I know I need to be in the right place to 😄
@sashabilton it is absolutely worth reading (and I am glad I did) but it was a hard read
