Third word was a letter-shot, "dimly".

Each of my first three words are selected for statistical likelihood of having a match. If I can get it quicker, great. If I get to the third word, then it's down to finding words that can fit the matched letters. This means that hard mode is right out the window.

My starting word is probably a good one, statistics wise (PEONY), but was chosen because I think it's pretty and I do like the constraints hard-mode gives me.
Once upon a time I tried for win-streaks, but not anymore.

Well, I did today. Usually when I have a decent idea of what it might be getting at. Today's spangram was pretty easy, based on the theme clue. Other times it takes a few words for the spangram to reveal itself to me.
