@troutcobbler @perpetual_beta @PackRat My psu went out on my main desktop pc. I installed hatchery gila on my laptop and it runs pretty smooth on that potato
@wickedlester @perpetual_beta @PackRat cool! It’s pretty much stock Debian Trixie with some stuff back ported/ added. Everything has source packages too and served up on CloudFlare S3 for speed. If you don’t like my bar you can always add Noctalia shell or one of those other quickshell configs floating around. I think Dark Material Shell does mango too. Quickshell is already installed so you just need those projects configs.
@troutcobbler
Yep, both Noctalia and Dms work on Mango. Check their respective wiki's for the correct command to start them (they differ slightly).

Too bloaty for me. If I wanted a DE, I would use one. RAM usage is more than plasma while being less integrated.

The quickshell, mango or both?

I noticed the noctalia-shell had a huge memory footprint; getting up to gnome territory.

I switched over to mango + waybar and the memory is more around xfce4 levels. If I didn't have the xwayland going it would be a bit less.

@PackRat @thesaigoneer @troutcobbler @wickedlester

Noctalia and Dank. As I said, like running a DE.

Mango is good and the closest to DWM on Wayland. Decent memory footprint.

@perpetual_beta @PackRat @thesaigoneer @wickedlester oh wow. Didn’t realize the were such hogs. Makes sense though after looking at those configs a while back. They had all kinds of shit going on in them.
@troutcobbler not only that but I don't really like all the options and configs,etc being setup by someone else because everyone has their own way of doing things. a few things being set up is okay but when they set up the whole system including the login manager, I feel like I am driving someone else's car.
@wickedlester for sure. https://www.tonybtw.com/tutorial/quickshell/ this is a great little tutorial for a simple horizontal bar.
Quickshell Tutorial - Build Your Own Bar

@troutcobbler he has some good tutorials
@troutcobbler your bar works fine for me. no need to switch.

@troutcobbler @PackRat

Nice.

For those who use monitorrules, the Syntax has changes.

#archlabs

@perpetual_beta @PackRat I saw that when 12.0 was tagged. I need to update the config in skel to reflect that change.
