There is a breathtaking lack of personal responsibility i see day to day.

Just for example. Bounced NSF payments. For me, its not just bad. Its life destroying. Part of my employment is "personal NSF charges that arent purely clerical error are reasons for immediate termination." I didnt just bounce a ~100 payment. Im also auto fired and without income.

I work for a credit union. The theory is, I cant have negative $ and have access to yours.

The sob stories and "but i didnt know" i hear...

@Keicowku For curiousity - does "clerical error" extend to issues with the partner's employer? (i.e. do I get fired because my wife's paycheck got delayed and auto-withdrawals still fired)

@anyGould yup that would be clerical. It triggers an auto HR review.

"Prove it wasnt you mismanaging your own affairs. Interview."

@Keicowku "Oh, you don't have enough money? Nope, we're not going to give you money anymore. That'll solve the problem!" 🤑
(I get the bank's side, but feels like they're missing that if people are gonna steal, they'll just start stealing *earlier* to avoid the flag?)

@anyGould i gotta assume its an employee bonding issue.

But yeah. Knowing that parts of the crap I signed makes my hyper aware of what my chq balance is let me tell you.
