Is there any good solution for encrypted android backups that removes the dependency on Google drive? Ideally something self hosted so I don't have to worry about exceeding my space subscription.

Nextcloud allows for a full Google Drive replacement, as well as Google calendar… and if you’re feeling brave Google Docs/Sheets as well.
