Anyone know what #butterfly it is? It was amazing to watch my cat get completely spooked by “flapping eyes”. She swatted the butterfly down but then was too scared to approach it 😂 (the butterfly has been moved to safety after Phoebe gave up on trying to sniff it)!

I was going to say "round my parts" but no, they're not so common there!

@suearcher it was beautiful, and this was a brilliant example of how colours are meant to thwart (noobie) predators! Kitty was completely fummoxed by “flapping eyes”!

Peacock butterfly. 40 years ago one of the more common species. I spotted it a lot when I was a kid. Nowadays quite rarely.
