@chris Mastodon.social disabled the local feed displaying posts for all masto instances.

@BCMetisMan ? How would they have done that? Do they somehow block other instances live pages? Our local feed at socialbc remains public.

(Asking generally in a hand-wavy way, not expecting you to answer :))

Perhaps @reiver or @evan can shed light?

@BCMetisMan @reiver @evan ah! So they turned it off on the mastodon.social end.

Well, just to be clear, this only affects people on mastodon.social. People on other instances can still see posts from mastodon.social and can still use their own federated and local timelines to see posts.

@BCMetisMan i can’t say I understand why they would do that. But then, it is not the first time that instance has done something kind of anti-user that makes me wonder….

@BCMetisMan @chris

It was turned off on mastodon.social .

There were some announcements about it.

@chris

Time to find another instance. Without that other feed this is useless. Why did they start an instance they don't want people to use. I was trying to promote Masto to others but now Im thinking also, this is just too much work and they just dont seem to make any of this better and they could have made it for everyone, but sadly they keep making it all worse.

@BCMetisMan I can't imagine you will be the only one.
@BCMetisMan @chris Not for all instances; just mastodon.social.
