Is someone building a federated Discord?

@dansup A lot of people mention Matrix, but doesn't Matrix lack Discord-like voice channels? To me, this is an important feature a Discord alternative needs.

@calvicii Depending on the client you can do group voice/video chats.

@Kalon @calvicii that's not the same as a voice channel. when I'm in a Discord community with, say, six people, but want to use voice chat with just two of them at the moment, I can just hop into a voice channel and have them join me without notifying the entire group.

@dansup @calvicii It's still in beta I believe but Matrix's big client Element supports video rooms which I think is equivalent except you just would opt not to also use video in the room.
