Not my usual fare but the world is in a weird place. This is an instrumental modern neoclassical piece by Ólafur who did the soundtrack to Broacchurch, but has an experimental electronic band, Kiasmos that led me to this song. It is an amazing celebration of the winter solstice. It’s a tribute to the light ahead. Enjoy.

Listen and discuss!

@dj @reversegremlin it is 13° here, feels like 3°, and the promise of spring is Necessary
@dj @reversegremlin metaphorically, too
@chris @dj lots of melting necessary soon

On the contrary, this is 100% part of my usual fare. Reminds me a nice balance between the sparse Eno stuff (Music for Airports) and more textural neoclassical music (Phillip Glass, without all the anxiety).

Themes are simple and voiced with compassion, the contapuntal piano work is educated without being arrogant. The voice fits the arrangement wonderfully, with a breathy beginning and then more pure tones as it grows. It feels like Spring. Lovely, from top to bottom.

@Drucifer_ @dj the last song just gutted me 😭

Amazing feel and dynamics on the piano here... can only be achieved with such a magnificent turtleneck. The AI software ad in the middle of the song really hit home for me.

I REALLY loved when the strings picked up in the second half
