Lake Qarun (Birket Qarun) is a hypersaline lake in Egypt's Fayoum Oasis, 80 km southwest of Cairo. It's the remnant of ancient Lake Moeris, one of the world's oldest natural lakes. Location: Fayoum Governorate, ~45 m below sea level.
