I ran my own #GoToSocial instance for about a year. Had fun and learned a lot, but the experiment ran its course. I wasn't prepared to handle so much data, and my VPS was straining.

I am on this snac2 instance with an eye toward a future experiment of running my own instance.

@passthejoe I run mine on a Raspberry at Home and there are no problems. What do you mean with Data?

I can't remember the exact numbers, but it was a multi-GB PostgreSQL database and probably 70 GB in files. I had 100 GB on the VPS, but my backup server was smaller, and I thought it was a lot for a one-person instance. I was following a lot of accounts, which likely led to all that data, but I didn't have a good handle on why it saved so much ... or what to do about it.
