I’m planning a lesson for a grade 11 agriculture/agrifoods class here in #novascotia #canada and I am looking for YOUR (yes you dear reader) help.

Please share in a comment a food or food combination you like that at least one other person has told you they thought was disgusting 🀒 when they heard about it and - if you know - what they disliked about it.

Mine: Ants on a log - celery, raisins, peanut butter.

Reasons: The person hates raisins.

Thanks for your help! πŸ™

@lifewithtrees kimchi on pizza
People just seem to not like spicy fermented cabbage for some reason I've never understood. Probably too smelly
@lifewithtrees Hawaiian pizza. Because pineapple.

@lifewithtrees

1 part cola, 1 part orange juice

Reason: It looks like diarrhea.

Sweet potato pie with banana. (Banana is optional, but it lets you reduce the sugar and still be yummy). Was rejected by friend because they have an "ewwww, bananas" thing.

@lifewithtrees

Toast with Vegemite and avocado. The perfect breakfast. Salty Vegemite and creamy avocado πŸ₯‘

Some people have no taste! And I get it, not everyone loves Vegemite like a native Aussie.

@lifewithtrees

Fruit cake with a thin slice of tasty cheese on it.

I think some people struggle with the sweet and savory flavors but they work so well.

@lifewithtrees
Menudo would make a nice addition to your list! I love a good, fresh, hot bowl of menudo on occasion, but I have a few friends who think I'm nuts!
@lifewithtrees peanut butter on toast, for breakfast. My german friends liked sweet foods for breakfast, and didn't get peanut butter at all - they think it is very strange. Which it is, right? Goopy, sticky, sweet, salty!
But I'm from Quebec, and we like a hearty, savory breakfast!
Canadians invented peanut butter - and we just love it! πŸ€—
@lifewithtrees My dad would pour black coffee (like a whole mug) into his morning cereal. As a kid, I wanted to imitate him, so I tried it too. I’m in my 50’s now and it’s still my favorite way to have cereal. But everyone I tell this to thinks it’s gross.

@marcgeffen @lifewithtrees
A great way to have cereal.

Also gross.

@lifewithtrees my chinese friend was excited to share one of her favourite foods with me. A bowl of congee arrived! It looked … gross. A bowl of white, soupy goo. And the taste was worse than the texture, for me. Hard to describe: no spicing, flat, odd. I could not eat it. She was so distressed, thinking she'd delight me, but instead I had an unpleasant experience. Flavour is such a cultural thing, it seems. But our friendship survived it :-).
@lifewithtrees chips dipped in custard, from school dinner days. Reason: gross mixing savoury and sweet
@lifewithtrees I love a bowl of cottage cheese drizzled with coleslaw dressing; just that, nothing else. I've had multiple people look at me funny when they hear about it. I think because the combination is so strange, but it works well for me! I love the subtle milky-ness of the cottage cheese contrasted by the sharp tangy dressing. Anyway, I think people dislike cottage cheese with its strange texture, and it's usually hidden in things or not the main part of whatever people are eating.
