Much has happened with #ultreia in the past weeks.

  • Based on user feedback, we backfilled all seven routes with town data, so now you can "fly" to any town on any of the routes from a search box.
  • We also added a "?" button that explains what is what.
  • We added an "elevator pitch" (below) to better explain what Ultreia.me is.
  • We added https://ultreia.me/survey/ for users to quickly find data that is incomplete
  • We added a 🏳️‍🌈 and 🏳️‍⚧️ survey to mark albergues and bars/cafés that are LGBTQIA+ friendly.
  • We added a new API for drinking water quality exchange with some towns and province public works administrations. Now (León, for example), the council gets a WhatsApp message if fountain "do not drink" plaques have been vandalized or removed.
  • Added an "antihate" reporting function for (currently) select users to report hateful graffiti on the Caminos. Local helping hands will be alerted to help remove the hateful stuff.

Ultreia.me is a project to search and map the Caminos de Santiago. You can use it to find albergues, fountains, points of interest, vegan and vegetarian albergues and restaurants, food carts, camping-friendly places, and more. It is decidedly not a Planner, use Godesalco for that, it’s excellent.

It is also a project to share this information with the commons, interacting with OpenStreetMap to contribute back what our users discover, making it available to anyone, here and on any other Camino route planner or mapper.
