I currently have a #google #pixel 7a phone with #grapheneos .

I still have around 2 years before the end of service of my device.

By then, I hope GrapheneOS will have released their own phones.
@frank Agreed. There is a Pixel 7 Pro on ebay that has gone down to like $210, it has a dead spot on the LCD. The Excellent one is $300. My husband has a Pixel 7 Pro, but doesn't use GrapheneOS. He says that's about half what he paid for his (through Koodo). Tempted. Even if I just gradually transition from my Samsung Galaxy A14.

I usually pay my phones as a one shot payment. I prefer owning it, avoiding unnecessary contracts, easier to switch and ultimately keeping it until it truly breaks or reach EoS.

I just pay for the SIM card and the monthly provider, which is fizz.ca in my case.

That being said, I hope my next device is going to be an official one from GrapheneOS. Not only I want to support the company, but also installing GrapheneOS on my Pixel required a bit of tech knowledge. Which I hope gets easier.
@frank Yeah and that's what I would be doing with ebay. I've done that at least twice, and inherited a phone from my mother.
@capergrrl
But if you're currently in the market for a pixel phone, I wouldn't get a Pixel 7 even if they're cheaper. They are getting old and support ends in 2027.

I would get a more recent one. At least Pixel 8, 9 or even 10. These newer models get support for 7 years. So, for exemple, the Pixel 8 support ends in 2030.
@frank
They won't release "their own phones". They have partnered with an OEM since June 2025. They are in active talks, which are going well, to help them meet the hardware requirements for a subset of their future devices. So, it will be a next generation of a phone from an existing Android OEM which will meet the security requirements, so GrapheneOS can support it. Still very exciting though. The OEM is not yet disclosed but it is a top 10 Android OEM and the phone will feature a flagship Snapdragon SoC.

Yeah, that's what I meant lol
