Media featuring friendships
Do folks have recommendations for kids movies, shows, or books that focus on characters friendships? Recently I picked up the book “the princess bride.” My kid noticed and said she recognized the title. And saw the movie. But she didn’t like it because there was too much fighting. I an example of a good movie. “K-pop demon hunter” was the answer. Because Friendship.
I’d look at what japan has to offer. They have a whole genre based on camping shows. Sports and music shows might be a good fit as well (I mean high school music club shows and not idol shows here). I would verify the show with a quick search online because some shows look like they are for kids but end up dealing with some very hard themes (Made in Abyss comes to mind).
Off the top of my head, I would suggest Spy X Family. It’s a fun show that you can watch with her, I enjoyed the first season even though I’m very much an adult.
I watched grimgar of fantasy and ash not too long ago which has quite a bit of fighting and is violent at times, but does a great job at exploring grief and learning to understand your friends even with their faults. More for teens though.
I heard good things about ascendance of a bookworm. Welcome to Demon School Iruma Kun is very kid friendly. I loved wistoria wand and sword, basically Harry Potter as an anime.
I feel like japan does a good job putting out shows for kids that also deal with real issues (bullying and being apart from the group being a big theme in a lot of them). Western cartoons seem to be mostly vapid pandering compared to it. And all of them have English dubs anyways now.

Encouragement of the Climb and Laid Back Camp are the most recommended outdoor animes I think. I haven’t watched either though.
Moribito feels very much like a studio Ghibli film! It also feels like a historical anime even though there are fantasy elements. It’s more for 12 or older though.
