The three greatest science documentary series of all time, according to me, a random person on the Internet:

- “The Ascent of Man”, 1973, hosted by Jacob Bronowski.

- “Connections”, 1978, hosted by James Burke.

- “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage”, 1980, hosted by Carl Sagan.

I haven’t seen anything since that touches the raw heights of these. All S Tier television that still holds up in 2026.

WAIT! I forgot the BEST science series of all time!!

I’m talking of course about “In Search Of…” hosted by Leonard Nimoy

@tilton I bought the full series on disk last year. I quickly found that I want to rip them all and remove the intros :) I was never annoyed once a day or week, but one after the other became grating.
Otherwise a formative series that I loved as a kid.
@CanidAnubis I watched it religiously when I was 5 years old. Completely convinced all of it was real! That intro music is so deep in my brain.
@tilton Another disk that I picked up from that era was Orsen Well's 'The Late Great Planet Earth', which I saw in my single digits as well.
At the time, it felt similar to In Search Of, but man, as an adult, it's a trip. It's amazing every kid who watched it didn't become an evangelical. It's worth the revisit if you saw it as a kid.
@tilton i have a soft spot for "the universe" which it doesn't really deserve
