When I first came to Japan, I had a student who was very into Japanese traditional dance. There was also a Minshuto politician named Akamatsu, the local boy who went to the elite schools that everyone was proud of. She mentioned her dance troupe performed at his event. I asked what his platform was. Why did she support him? She looked surprised and said, “It’s Akamatsu.”

And that my dears, is how a lot of people vote here.

When I look at US or UK it is really so different? More team based and maybe stirred up racism. I doubt the average person looks at policies much. Many had little knowledge of project 2025 for example so vote aganst themselves.
@salyavin I wonder if the only people who look at policy these days are pundits and people who write articles about politics.
