My friends, I am trying to acquire a home.
It's a creaky, currently slightly damp, structurally compromised, very historic mess of a wonderful blank canvas opportunity.
I have so many ideas for it - the classic restoration meets the technology. A chance to make an operating system that celebrates a characterful house!
I want to get stuck in and I'm keen to share the process.
It's not yet a done deal. Wish me luck 😄

Uncovered some treasure already.
There's a Simpsons DVD hidden underneath a floorboard (now re-entombed), and an historic Percy Pig jelly sweet - which must have been out of the packet for years

if your mortgage broker recommends a solicitors to you, I highly recommend doing a thorough review search on them first. I made that mistake because the broker made it sound like it was going to be easier 'cos they could chase them up instead of needing me to do it (such a big hook for my ADHD ass) but they were horrendous and I spent days calling and calling. 2 years later I still don't have most of the paperwork.

@jtruk property solicitors are always bad but these jokers were just next-level useless. at one point I had to ask if the guy they assigned still worked there because I had tried calling and emailing him every other day for a month with no reply. (in the end I had to shame his lazy ass by CC'ing in all their company-wide inboxes before he finally got back in touch)

so yeah, learn from my mistake there, sometimes the easy route is the hard route, so check first! :P

The estate agent have recommended a solicitor. It's an unusual type of sale - I believe it's a repossessed property, so is a corporate sale.
EA suggests they have a very efficient relationship with the solicitor, and it's no sale no fee - which is appealing.
But DM me the name of those guys just in case please!
