What if you could save data to your earrings?
I've been working on this #Charmware MicroSD jewelry concept for a year+, and (as with the recent LED one), am SO EXCITED to finally pull together some semi-polished prototypes!!

This year, I intend to finally start selling my functional circuit board jewelry – including custom/branded options for these.

Site coming soon at https://charmware.tech πŸ‘€

Here's the more in-depth look at my hidden data earrings! Note: these use a circuit board that will be updated in a couple of weeks (see my next #Charmware post for a preview πŸ‘€).

Also, I've now created a website and newsletter! Getting closer to selling these.

@alexglow but you're supposed to hide the important data carrier :)

Also, airport security might get interested.

@bonkers IMO, you're "supposed" to do whatever you want with this πŸ˜‰

That said, I'm actively working on a few different types of clasps [no advice needed]

@bonkers Oh – it struck me that you might be talking about *me* needing to hide this, instead of yelling about it on the internet – which is a fair point! I do think if someone has physical access, they're more likely to just take the (non-encrypted) passport or whatever πŸ™ƒ

OTOH, if a bad actor actually knows me well enough to check the earrings, I probably have bigger problems...

@alexglow I was just kidding. You put your secret data in the most unprotected place :)

Having grown up in a post-soviet environment, I remember people wearing special belts to carry the money on their bodies. Women also used their bras for the same purpose.

@alexglow BTW, a nice sci-fi short, and the whole channel is quite awesome

@bonkers

I just had a flashback to working in a box office and being handed wads of sweaty boob money. So fun.

@alexglow finally, I can stop wearing my gamecube memory cards as earrings.
@stargirl Nooooo those sound awesome tho!! 😸
@alexglow Oh these look really cool! β€‹
@alexglow What data would you save? Pull on one to play stored music?🎢

@Radaghaz Besides my big ole video files (which I already carry around on a card like this), I'm thinking about encrypted copies of personal documents (like a passport when traveling), maybe a journal, sneakernet file-sharing, and... anything else!

I'm keeping these simple – they're just physical storage for the card, so they fit into the earrings. What would you use it for?

@alexglow I like these because they look like nice earrings. Not just like an sd card on a hook. I saw em and thought β€œoh my wife would probably wear those”

@Bfordham Awesome, ty! 🀩 I'm super into making functional tech jewelry that actually works as jewelry.

This one's always fun to wear out: https://www.hackster.io/glowascii/ouija-style-esp8266-programmer-planchette-d2c033

"Ouija"-style ESP8266 Programmer Planchette

ESP, you say? This ESP8266-01 programmer can load Arduino code, looks like a "talking board" piece... and is also an earring! By Alex Glow.

@alexglow Sneaky. ☺️

PS: I love your hair. ☺️

@alexglow cool form factor! we've thought about this problem but haven't come up with anything nearly that good
@alexglow It’s giving me Zenon flashbacks, and I love it.
@KweVictoria ...Welp [pulls up endless "stuff to watch" list]
@alexglow Not the world’s best movie. lol But a millennial pop culture classic from the DCON days, if you’re into that.
@alexglow awesome earrings and owl necklace!

@d1 Thanks! I'm all about owls :D

This necklace is a pin I mounted on a bolo tie! Gonna post a tutorial on that soon, too. The pin is from Orange Nebula – a gift from a friend: https://orangenebula.com/collections/pin-patches-prints

@alexglow stylish handy and I can defiantly see it being extremely usful. very cool
@alexglow
MIB flashbacks here, love these.
@alexglow
I've never before wanted to get my ears pierced and wear earrings!
Beautiful!
@alexglow @philpem I bought a pair of tiny 256Gb Kingston aluminium USB sticks and made them in to earnings. Not as stylish as yours but no one noticed what they were!

@alexglow

Nice touch! There is even the possibility of using Quartzite Crystals for 3d long term storage.

Imagine plucking of a small crystal cube from a bracelet, earrings or an amulet.

And having everything stored there in that tiny piece.

The next association with this absurdely is Frank, the pug from men in black with a whole galaxy stores in his collar later on, after they snatched it from the cat.

@Kmachel Ohhhh, THAT explains the comment someone else left about MiB πŸ˜„ I should rewatch those.

And of course I love that quartzite concept. Marvelous :)
