After a long negotiation with the Philadelphia PD, the greater Philadelphia region civil society agrees to hold elections in two months, on 4-5, to elect a regional mayor as well as city and suburban councilors, the first election since the war.
@Truckasauruslex@ww3real Do you suppose the greater Philadelphia region in this case would include southern New Jersey, or would they respect the old state borders?
@wanderoo@ww3real , ya that's beyond me. There are plenty of reasons why everything associated with the current US constitutional model is cooked, and not worth rebuilding. But there seems to be a number of "restorationists" running round, and if they want to get anything done, elections using the old borders is where I'd start.
@Truckasauruslex@ww3real Yeah, maybe it's because I have no emotional attachment to the U.S. constitution or the idea of the U.S. as a nation, but if it was me I'd welcome the opportunity to start over from scratch, avoiding the things about the old order that history has taught us were demonstrably Bad Ideas.
@wanderoo@ww3real , I appreciate Alon set it up this way because they planned the civil war at the end. But in my mind China made a misstep in not setting up a bunch of smaller puppet states in North America, allowing them to wind down the occupation earlier. There are heaps of petty kings who would have jumped at the chance.
