Avoiding cirrhosis is easy. Getting paid is really hard.

In real terms a cheap laptop with Linux and LO Writer and storage AND a backup HDD, you'd never fill is a fraction now of the price typewriters ever were in real terms. They needed paper and ribbons.
Editing meant re-typing.
A cheap ereader (cost more than a backup HDD!) and Calibre can be used to "print" drafts without paper.
Alcohol or drugs doesn't help. A myth by Coleridge, Hemingway et al.

@andrewducker Bonus Pro Tip: you can use words more than once in the same story, or even the same paragraph! “And,” “or,” and character names are frequently used in this way. Also, for some reason, “foxes,” but that seems to be limited to works by Ben Aaronovitch.
