Finally got a DAC for my new TV, where I stream my music, to run some actual speakers. Its night and day to be back on a pair of bookshelf speakers. Down with sound bars! Down with TV speakers!
@stevecrozz Can you describe your setup, please?

@zenspider sure! I have a Fosi ZD3 and ZA3 and a pair of bookshelf speakers. The ZD3 handles audio from the TV with HDMI eARC. And the ZA3 has a second analog input so I can still switch to the other one and listen to the turntable without going digital.

But most of the time I'm streaming video or audio to the TV and it's sending PCM audio to the ZD3. The TV remote controls the volume this way so it's a one remote control setup.

@stevecrozz I feel like a dinosaur. 🦖
@zenspider I feel that. I had an ancient Onkyo receiver that was running the show before, but it seems nobody uses receivers anymore and so options are expensive and limited for replacing the receiver. It seems most people these days either live with TV speakers or buy a sound bar. Either way the TV runs the show now, not the receiver. The TV is no longer a dumb display, it's everything, but I still want decent sound! So I got a class D amp and figured out how to get all that digital audio to it
