Part of what makes the #OldGal v #youngpups fun is the ancillary wordplay we ^all^ indulge.

I’m still completely mystified about the NYT reasoning.

Perhaps it would have been less disappointing had Traci Bennett made more of an effort to explain. It’s not as if the NYT readership is illiterate and undiscerning. I like to think the paper appeals to those who want to understand how and why decisions about many things are made β€” including this one.
